Welcome to the 2007-2008
school year @ Central Middle School. According to your schedule, you are
now in one of Mr. Wiltshire’s co-teach curriculum and strategy specialists language
arts classes, where you will not only be learning unique strategies to that
will help you achieve an advanced level of comprehension, but also be amazed
and excited about how much you are retaining from daily lessons. So, always come to class expecting to learn
differently from the norm, and more importantly, bring your humor because
laughing is allowed in this learning environment.
Respectful
Rules:
*** Be prepared for class every day: by
completing assigned homework, by having class folder with pencil and parchment,
and by practicing good hygiene and eating habits before school.
1) Treat your teachers with respect
daily and you will be treated respectfully forever.
2) Respectfully raise your hand during class and you
will be called upon.
3) Remain at or near your assigned seat, so
as not to disrupt and disrespect your classmates who need a quiet
environment for reading and comprehending daily lessons.
4) Consequences are given to disrespectful
students and privileges are rewarded to respectful students.
5)
A respectful
student always does their best work: by follow along during reading
assignments, by reading aloud when called upon, and by always completing
assignments in your very best hand writing.
Class
expectations: PARTICIPATION
IS A MUST
In this Social Studies class the students get the opportunity to get academic
support and to learn new learning strategies and new ways to learn. The
importance of reading is also emphasized. Anything not completed in class
becomes HOMEWORK and is due to following class day.
2
Homework Philosophy: (1): As an Exceptional Education Student
within the self-contained learning environment and the student is on a Special
Diploma Tract, NO homework is assigned unless the student did not finish
the assignment in class. (2): Exceptional Education Students within the learning
environment and on a Standard Diploma Tract, YES homework is assigned as
needed and/or if completed in class, it becomes HOMEWORK and is due to
following class day.
Students
are expected to: (1) come to class every day ready to listen to verbal
direction, while learning a different way, thinking a different way, and
completing assignments in both an easy way or more
difficult way. (2) to begin using learning strategies that help you do better
in school and with daily life ethical scenarios.
This means that you should not only come to my class with a good attitude, but
also all of your assignments that you are working on, so that you can brag that
you "got-em-done" and you got the grade.
You should not be absent from school unless you are very sick, or have a family
emergency. Mr. Wiltshire expects you to follow classroom directions,
redirections, and consequences with respect to everyone. Mr. Wiltshire
will always treat you with respect, so use the manners you have learned from
your parent's to be respectful back. You will gain a higher level
of respect from me by, listening to directions, participating, staying focused,
and following the Respectful rules.
Discipline:
