Central Middle School
Dear Parent or
Guardian,
Effective Monday,
May 6, 2013 Central Middle School will begin using a new
dismissal procedure.
Dismissal will
proceed as follows:
·
4:15 p.m.
Students in downstairs classrooms will be dismissed
·
4:18 p.m.
Students in the 500 & 700 wings will be dismissed
·
4:21 p.m.
Students in the 600 & 800 wings will be dismissed
·
4:25 p.m.
All school buses depart Central Middle School
I am implementing
this new procedure in order to improve the safety conditions
for all students at dismissal time. We
currently have the majority of our student population
boarding a school bus at 4:15 p.m. The
sheer number of students in the bus loop presents safety
issues since the main exit to our bus loop is directly
adjacent to a portion of our car loop. The very real
possibility exists of a student inadvertently falling or
being pushed into the car loop and being injured by a moving
vehicle. By staggering our dismissal
times we will be able to move the students to the buses in
smaller numbers in a safer and more efficient manner.
If you plan to
pick up your child please use the car loop instead of
driving your car through the parking lot or waiting in the
parking lot. Either of these force
students to cross the car loop traffic and increases the
chances of an injury. Our car loop begins
on the east end of our campus, winds in front of the entire
school, and exits on the west end of our campus past the
gymnasium. There is sufficient room to accommodate the
traffic we experience in the afternoon. I
ask that you line your vehicles up in two lanes and wait for
your child to come to you. If you arrive
early please pull all the way forward to the end of the
car loop to make room for others who arrive after you.
I thank you for
working with us as we implement this new procedure.
Our number one goal is always student safety.
With your help I know our school community can make
this a success. Please contact me at
321-722-4150 if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
James

Central Middle
School is now accepting nominations for our School Advisory
Council for the 2013-2014 school year. Any
parent who has a child attending Central next year is
eligible to serve on this committee. The
School Advisory Council serves an important function in our
school and meets monthly to discuss school business and
provide advice to me directly. Your
commitment would be one meeting per month for about 45
minutes. If you are interested please
contact us at 321-722-4150 and leave your name with the
receptionist. All nominees will be placed
on the ballot. Voting will occur on
Monday, May 13 at Central Middle School from 8:00 a.m. until
7:00 p.m.
I hope you will
consider serving on this importing committee.
If you have questions please contact me.
Thank you,
James C.
